Linda Lotz is with the American Friends Service Committee. The list
was originally compiled by Lotz with the assistance of the Midnight Special
Bookstore, Santa Monica, CA. Lotz prepared an earlier list while a staff
organizer for the now-defunct Campaign for Political Rights, a Washington,
D.C.-based coalition which organized against covert action abroad and
political surveillance and repression at home. She continues to monitor
political repression of dissidents and activists.
Chip Berlet is a paralegal investigator and journalist who has written
extensively about government intelligence abuse for publications ranging
from the Chicago Sun-Times to Covert Action Information Bulletin. He
is secretary of the National Lawyers Guild Civil Liberties Committee,
and a founding co-editor of Police Misconduct & Civil Rights Law
Report. Berlet works on the staff of Political Research Associates
