Abortion compared to the Holocaust

Lawrence, Kansas A California man organized an antiabortion protest in which cloth billboards depicted a swastika and a photo of Holocaust victims with the caption, "Reproductive Choice." Gregg Cunningham, director of the Los Angeles-based Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, led the demonstration.

"Abortion is genocide. That's the whole point," Cunningham said. "Frankly, I'm weary of genocide snobs who focus solely on their causes." He refused to make any apologies for the comparison between abortion and the Holocaust.

Another sign showed a photo of the lynching of a Black man, over the words, "Racial Choice."

The demonstration at the University of Kansas coincided with the Jewish holidays in September. Angry students tore down the signs, and according to published reports, punched one man holding a sign.

Cunningham and the Wichita-based Heartland for Life Network arranged the protest through a club for Christian law students at the university. Last year Cunningham hosted a similar demonstration at Pennsylvania State University during Passover.
