In the November Freedom Writer, we wrote about three candidates who were backed by members of the Council for National Policy: Demaris Miller of Virginia and Gary Hofmeister of Indiana, who ran for Congress; and Alex Mooney, who ran for the Maryland state senate. Miller and Hofmeister both lost their long-shot races. Hofmeister's campaign was managed by Ralph Reed. Alex Mooney, a former CNP staffer, won his bid for the Maryland state senate. In September, Mooney, after beating a long-term moderate incumbent in the Republican primary, went on to defeat his Democrat opponent Ron Bird in the general election.
