A survey of school board members, superintendents, and others, conducted by the American School Board Journal (June 1998) found that 80% of respondents support the teaching of the Bible in public school classrooms. Forty-four percent believe it should be included in history curriculum, while 36% believe it should be taught as literature only. Only 20% say Bible teaching should be left to churches and parents.
