Oldest senator overcome at Promise Keepers

Washington, DC Jostled and dehydrated, Senator Strom Thurmond, 94, the oldest man in the United States Senate, was hospitalized overnight after attending the Promise Keepers' massive rally at the National Mall. With hundreds of thousands in attendance, Thurmond said he was overcome by the heat and overcrowding. He checked himself into the Walter Reed Medical Center where he was told to drink plenty of water. "I am in fine health and am eager to continue my duties," Thurmond said.
