Thomas Jefferson Societies

Since 1990, according to National & International Religion Report, 10,000 Bible clubs have formed on American high school campuses. This happened as evangelical churches responded to a 1990 Supreme Court decision allowing Bible clubs.

Now, some freethinkers in Florida have responded by launching Thomas Jefferson Societies. These societies are voluntary associations of students on high school and college campuses across the nation dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the principles enunciated by Thomas Jefferson and the Founding Fathers. The group is appealing to "students who do not fear to question conventional wisdom," and "who look to science, not superstition, to solve problems."
