In some cases those who killed in God's name were said to be carrying on the tradition of the Biblical Phineas Priesthood. Others were said to be an Army of God. In both cases a number of differenet groups and individuals have used these names, and while some are connected, there is insufficient evidence to claim that all are part of one connected group.
